Don’t jump to conclusions. At least for me, one major thing that exaggerates worry is jumping to conclusions. Just accept things as they happen for what they are. You don’t always have to believe the worst possible scenario is going to happen, you just have to–
-
Plan. If something stressful is coming up, a great way to cope with it is to get ready. Remember, there’s a difference between believing and fearing that the worst possible thing is going to happen and strategizing what you’re going to do in case it does happen.
-
Close your eyes and think: this isn’t the end of the world. In fact, this world is a very temporary place.
-
Focus on what’s REALLY important. Because this world is such a temporary place, whatever is worrying you right now is probably, eternity wise, not that important. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth; where moth and rust destroy”—meaning that what we stress ourselves out over, if it has anything to do with the world, will ultimately vanish.
-
But—store up for yourselves treasures in heaven; for where your treasures are there your heart will be.” So an earthly treasure might be getting our book published. But a treasure in heaven might be a simple act of love towards your sister, even as simple as getting her a glass of water. That puts God’s standard in mind, doesn’t it?
-
Faith. We often think of stress as a bad thing or a bad time, but not as an opportunity to trust in God and His protection and plan for us. We must always think of everything in the context of God’s provision for us and His plan. Feeling stressed? Some faith building verses I recommend are Philippians 4:6-7, Matthew 6:19 to 28, Matthew 17:20.
-
Thankfulness. In some cases, stress is caused by the anxiety that we don’t have enough, or that we’re not good enough, or something else isn’t—but whatever it is, we always need to remember to be thankful. Count your blessings!
And stayinspired;)
Thank you – I really needed this today 🙂 Been stressing over a stupid book I ordered online and that’s not being delivered, but deep down I know it’s just peanuts in the greater scheme of things. Just needed a little reminder 🙂

Thanks for writing this. I definitely worry way too much than I care to admit. Another verse I want to add is 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.” 🙂
