How To Write a Better Article

Some of you reading this might be considering starting a blog, or wondering how to improve your own writing. And I’m happy to say that I’ve got a few tips to share with you!

1. Stay Inspired. As long as you’re inspired about about what you write, you’ll inspire your audience and write a lot. The more you write, the better you’ll be.

2. Pick a theme. Picking a solid theme of what to write about is a key to writing well, or at least writing more often. Having an endless range of topics to write about usually overwhelms you to where you can’t pick just one thing to do; it distracts you more; and so narrowing the number of topics down makes your work much easier. Also, you can solidify an audience better (people are more likely to follow you if they know exactly what type of content they’ll be reading).

3. Use pictures strategically. The right featured picture can add interest and meaning to your article, but beware of overusing pictures, gifs, and visual effects, which can be distracting.

4. Take advantage of bolds, italics, and fonts to emphasize points.

5. Use tabs. For example:

“The Scientific Revolution refers to the period when our sun-centered system replaced an earth-centered cosmos. The historical period spanned Copernicus to Newton— roughly 1550 to 1700 AD. So what would create a scientific revolution today? What would it take to go from evolutionary naturalism to the creation model? Granted, it’s not so simple. No one can mechanically apply past formulas with guaranteed results. At the same time an Origins debate application is helpful. The approaches below once overthrew an erroneous, all-encompassing view of science. Could they do it again?”

We might pay more attention if the article was formatted like:

“The Scientific Revolution refers to the period when our sun-centered system replaced an earth-centered cosmos. The historical period spanned Copernicus to Newton— roughly 1550 to 1700 AD.

So what would create a scientific revolution today?

What would it take to go from evolutionary naturalism to the creation model?

Granted, it’s not so simple. No one can mechanically apply past formulas with guaranteed results.

At the same time an Origins debate application is helpful. The approaches below once overthrew an erroneous, all-encompassing view of science.

Could they do it again?”

People don’t like reading long blocks of words. Spacing it out makes it easier. (example taken from creationmodelreflections.wordpress.com)

5. Keep it short– in many words, the meaning is lost. Say what you want to say in clear, meaningful words. Letting an article drag on and on and on turns off readers–it’s supposed to be an article, not a Tolstoy novel.

That’s all I have for today, but I’d definitely be open to doing another installment if you guys enjoyed this!
